Vintage 1947 first in Penguin Books copy of ’The Way of All Flesh' by Samuel Butler. A classic first published in 1903 attacking Victorian hypocrisy.
As is visible with the two Penguins on the cover, this is a Penguin Double Volume. Penguin Books had always struggled to issue large books in one edition as the costs were too high; leading to an outcry from readers who could only afford the first volume or had lost the first etc. therefore not having the full set. This lead to the Penguin Double edition which was double the price (two shillings) but contained the full work in one book!
Condition: Good. There is some wear to cover in places but to be expected with age, else in a nice condition. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
